THIS COMMON ENEMY
How did we get here? When did we finally lose it? How did it all start? Where do we go from here?. Cries everywhere, women and children wailing, girls missing with no hope for what the future holds for them. Lives lost and may still be lost, hearts beats for the next breaking news, pondering who or where next. Accusing fingers pointing in opposite directions like torpedoes aimed at enemy lines.
For some it is the height of Government negligence or ineptitude. For others squashing this enemy is the only trade bargain for continuity.
The enemy has shown complete impunity and no remorse for their actions, in fact if any thing, is their complete hunger and thirst for more blood and wanton destruction. No fear for death, looking almost ready for anything that they perceive is inevitable especially since the last straw that broke the camel's back has been placed. It is therefore a matter of time before an indelible mark is carved on the sand of posterity whether for good or evil.
Looking at the boastful character of the enemy, who almost seem like they are untouchable and the display of artillery in its possession, one would help but wonder how on earth they could afford all those knowing how much monetary effort that must be put into acquiring an arsenal like those. The question therefore is; "who are those behind these enemy''?, ''who is the hand of god behind them"?
Even in these period of apprehension and sadness, the press seems to be having a field day breaking news that aren't news in the first place, fabricating stories that could cause more harm than good, conflicting reports about the Government and the people, instigating more fear than hope.
Is it just me or have the people forgotten that solidarity is the name for survival? or that like the local adage; ''A child that refuses his mother a sleep will also not find sleep", that we have to join hands together to fight this plague and bring back the peace and unity that we once knew?
At this point in time, instead of slandering, why not support for the powers that be. Instead of preempting their actions and steps, why not pray for the success of their mission.
The press must understand that these so called enemy listen, read, view or watch the news as well and that the Government might have a point of not releasing step by step progress report on their missions and planned actions against cramping the activities of these enemy. We must understand by now that Nigeria is what it is because we are together as a nation and as such the idea of separation or secession is not an option.
Differences aside(political, religious, ethnicity and the likes), whether it was a problem created out of error, or a case of a dog which has gone rabid even against it masters, one thing though remains a fact that it is threatening the very existence of this country and as such a common enemy. Thus, we must all put our hands together and combat it as a Nation, everyone playing their part not interfering or debarring the other.
As we pray for the safe return of our kidnapped girls and the total annihilation of the scourge called  terrorism in a democratic geographical environment where human right and equality should be allowed to prevail, lets also hope for a better and safe country where my religion should not be a basis for getting any favour or my tribe, not a basis for getting any position but that I am where or what I am because I am a Nigerian!
